I have been working at Steak n Shake full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

As a GM I get to write my own schedule. I make the final decision on how the business will be ran, as long as it is with in company policies.
Great advancement opportunities until you reach GM level.

    Cons

    Long hours
Little to no support from above store leaders
Unrealistic expectations in drive times and guest complaints.
System of how guest are always right and team is wrong, and this controls a large portion of bonus.
Need a plan to develop GM's to above store leaders.
Having a system where the corp. can set and watch everything that is happening in a store 24 hours a day. It is like spying.
No true training program for managers.

    Advice to Management

Create a true training program for managers, use Cracker Barell as an example.
Create a true and realistic advancement plan.
Create realistic benchmarks for guest complaints and drive times.
Expanding is great, but when your current locations are struggling they need fixed first.

I worked at Steak n Shake full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible with nice managers. The managers really try to improve things that need to he improved. They also work with you and what's going on in your life so that way you're not working too much or too less.

    Cons

Don't get paid the amount you should. It gets very busy. You basically work too hard for the little pay. You get no vacation or no benefits. You don't get 40 hours a week because the owner doesn't want to pay insurance on us. You don't get emplyee discounts when you're not working. There is much favortism shown with certain managers.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work you are wonderful people.
