I worked at Stein Mart full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The merchandise is beautiful but is purchased for only one demographic. The employee discount is nice and employee of the month is also a nice perk.

    Cons

The staff is so terribly over worked and it is so difficult to maintain the standards of the store. The employees are really suffering from exhaustion and bitterness. They are pushed every day to do the work of 3 or 4 people and the raises if any are so minuscule they are insulting. The training is inconsistent and there really is no time to complete it.

I worked at Stein Mart full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Hard working peers, discount, great holiday party

    Cons

Depending on department, high stress environment, mentality that work is above family and health. Only able to advance if boss okays it, and they will only okay it if it benefits them. So no promotion until it's available under their immediate management. They don't want to go without in order to advance your career. No training unless it benefits them in that immediate moment.
