I worked at Stewart's Shops part-time

Pros

Room for advancing
Lots to do
Great customers

Cons

Long hours\not enough hours, sometimes can't find an inbetween
A lot is expected of you
drive offs
no system for managing missing money

Advice to Management

It seems to really depend what shop and who you work for. Some managers can be the best. Some can be very unforgiving. Everything gets pointed at hourly partners when things go wrong. Perhaps be a little more forgiving, especially with drives offs that nothing can be done about. Find a better system for managing the money as well.

I have been working at Stewart's Shops part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Depending on the store, it's a mostly friendly and close-knit environment with your coworkers. The work itself is an easy, repetitive routine after the first few weeks adjusting. You get a lot of nice return customers every day. Overall, a simple job that's good if you're young and getting started.

    Cons

The usual retail woes- demanding customers and anal big shots from the company wander in weekly to nitpick. Getting paid over 8.50 is impossible, and your hours get cut down if you manage to get raised that far. Irritating paperwork that serves no purpose besides making you look at your numbers at the end of the shift.

    Advice to Management

Lose some of that hot air. We're all human here.

    Positive Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

You see a lot of people.
Your shift goes very fast- you are constantly moving.

    Cons

Constant - non-stop accusations of stealing.
Incredible work load with more to do on the horizon.
    NO training.
Constant changes and constant misunderstandings about the changes.

    Advice to Management

    Get modern:
Add healthy choices of food. Your employees are getting sick.
Promos are unclear and misleading to the customer.
Don't blame employees for drive offs- when they cannot even see the pumps from the register. You created the policy of not pre-paying for gas, not your employees. And your game plan is to take it out of the employee's hide when gas is stolen. Not fair.
You have problems with the inventory programming. This leads to more accusations of stealing.
If you do not keep your stores adequately staffed you will lose business.
Do not publish the news of a twenty five cent raise for employees in the paper. The customers' remarks are humiliating. Ditto with your billions of dollars in annual profits. Customers jeer.
Watch what articles are on your tv. Those people you are talking about are our customers. We have to stand there and apologize. The constant drone of bad news creates a very negative work environment.
It's such a shame... nice business plan over all.
