I have been working at Stop & Shop part-time (More than a year)

Pros

Depending on where you work, the job can either be good or bad. Some days are good, others not so much, but I always have good co-workers who help me through the day.

Cons

Some people really shouldn't be working front end, and put 0 effort into making the store feel comfortable for the customer. Also, you're basically being paid peanuts for an exhausting job. It's more suited for young adults or somebody with a major job (We've got a few teachers working for a few extra $)

Advice to Management

Fire people who just don't pull their weight. Also, don't worry so much about those secret shoppers, worry more about the display of the store (Some of the stores I've gone through are absolutely FILTY, and my boss would never let me stay extra hours to clean it :/)

I worked at Stop & Shop part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Co-workers are friendly, managers are proactive

    Cons

Moving up is about "who you know" not about the knowledge and experience you bring

    Advice to Management

There's no need for a union, the union protects the bad, wages are unfair.

I have been working at Stop & Shop full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Competitive salary, benefits and 401k

    Cons

No quality of life. Unrealistic payroll. Understaffed management teams.

    Advice to Management

Exempt manager retention is dropping quickly because of the low morale that is rampant throughout the company right now. Focus on your people who want to do the right thing but aren't given the tools to do so.
