Pros

Highly entrepreneurial culture that empowers employees to improve the firm. Very client-oriented, which contributes to lasting client relationships. Open management style keeps all levels informed on a quarterly basis. High standards for analytical and technical capabilities. Strong internal information sharing to improve collective work product. Adequate-to-strong infrastructure.

Cons

Upper management often makes rash senior level hiring decisions. Over time, the emphasis on growth has limited the perceived importance of internal development. Work-life balance is difficult to achieve (although that is, admittedly, emblematic of growing companies and the consulting industry in general). Origination credit has historically been focused on firm contribution, but that has trended towards a "me first" attitude amongst directors and MDs in recent years.

Advice to Management

Don't sacrifice the positive characteristics of the firm (strong internal development, team attitude, cohesive culture, high technical standards, good people) in favor of growth.

I have been working at Stout full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very friendly and inclusive work culture; lots of great pro bono opportunities (in some cities); great office space

    Cons

I've heard upward mobility can be tough in some specific jobs here (not my experience)

    Pros

Very interesting work with availability of various resources in the company and opportunities to explore different areas of work. Progressive with benefits such as flex work, discretionary time off.

    Cons

Demands create work life balance issues - basically expected to be ready to drop everything and answer emails or calls at all times. This may be group specific, not sure how other groups in the firm handle this.
