I have been working at Stupski Foundation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

All the negative reviews were for the foundation when it was an operating foundation improving school district foundation - not a limited life foundation focused on low-income youth, hunger, and end of life. Unfortunately, Glassdoor doesn't allow for a distinction to be made even though the mission, operations, and team are completely different.

    - A well-accomplished team that takes its work seriously but not themselves - extremely collegial 'family-like' environment
    - The ability to have a profound difference on the San Francisco Bay Area
    - Great compensation and benefits
    - Management has been on the other side and grounds their work in modesty
    - Strong 'grantee friendly' and community-focused design cultural elements in the foundation
    - Strong board-staff relationship
    - The foundation is very evidenced-based in its approach

    Cons

    - Not for the faint of heart - the team (and consultants) are doing the work of a team easily 2 - 3x their size (with a smile!). One has to '80-20' it constantly to accomplish what has to be done
    - As a spend down foundation, we are moving a mile a minute to achieve our lofty goals in the time we have - again, not for the faint of heart or those looking for a cushy foundation job with no accountability
    - The foundation has built out its full-time staff and now seeks consultants. As such, this isn't the place for consultants wanting to 'move up' in the organization but rather a good opportunity for steady work

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up!

I worked at Stupski Foundation full-time

    Pros

Great benefits and pay, beautiful office, a lot of good people with good intentions

    Cons

Should have focused on grants for local schools instead of trying cast a wide net on the world of education. Incompatible management hires led to constant changes in strategy, personnel and low morale.

    Advice to Management

Smart decision to close and focus on donations. Financial assistance will impact students directly.
