Pros

Discounted food. At my franchise location a 6 inch was $.75 and a foot-long, pizza or salad were $1.50. Some offer free 6 inch with chips or cookies plus drink per 4 hours worked. Could always have free drink in a water cup or pay $.10 for a small (21oz) cup.

Cons

SMELL! The smell after working a shift is terrible. It is a mixture of onions, oil and yeast. The grime gets on your face and into your eyes which burns. The franchisee and management staff are very hit or miss. Mine were complete miss. They can make or break the experience (aside from the smell-it is constant everywhere).

Advice to Management

Don't act like you run a Ritz Carlton because you are a manager at Subway. That just means you have been working at Subway for 5 years and have not found anything better. Best make the staff feel as great as possible because everyone employed at Subway is job searching.

I worked at Subway full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The money and food is good. Corporate does the majority of the marketing for you.

    Cons

Monthly inspections are incredibly meticulous and I had three different inspectors. Disputes as a franchise owner with corporate are handled internally and submitted to public court without any appeal process allowed.

    Advice to Management

You already own the majority share of the sandwich restaurant business so stop asking so much of your franchise owners.
