Negative Outlook

I have been working at Summerhill Group as a contractor (Less than a year)

Pros

Good reputation, several offices across Canada.

Cons

Very reactive organization, with little foresight into the results of decision making. Culture of entitlement, with no accountability taken by staff. Responsibilities of the office staff frequently overlap, resulting in communication problems and frustration for the Field Representatives. Promised a variety of incentives which do not get delivered.

Field representatives are treated like second class citizens, with a "guilty until proven innocent" approach to problem solving. Very poor communication among the office; and to the field representatives, which results in constant micromanagement.

Advice to Management

Create clearly defined responsibilities for office staff, and hold them accountable.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Summerhill Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Get to work on some great environmental projects with some absolutely fantastic, passionate people. The projects allow you to make a tangible environmental difference.

    Cons

The CEO is shortsighted and vindictive. She has a need to micromanage things poorly, and I don't know that anyone has worked with her directly for more than a year without quitting. They like to underpay and withhold rewards from inexperienced staff.

    Advice to Management

You need to get rid of the CEO. She is absolutely toxic and has no business within this industry let alone in this company. Get rid of her before you lose even more quality staff.
