Pros

Direct management was very supportive in career development, work/life balance, and colaboration. There was plenty of room to move your career around in the company once you made the right contacts. The ability to work virtually was an excellent benifit.

Cons

You spent half your time fighting internal battles to try to get any work done. It was difficult sometimes to get to the right person to get the job done. Interal processes made it difficult to do business in a timely manner. Senior level management was disconnected with the field and placed importance on processes that weren't revenue generating and held no value.

Advice to Management

Get back in touch with your teams in the field so you can find out what they truly need to get business done. Stop implementing tools and processes then not follow through only to try again a few years later. It's a waste of time and training.

    Pros

Amazingly flexible work environment. Good work/life balance, most managers are flexible
on both work daily hours and time off for appointments. Benefits used to be excellent but
are moving to average or slightly above average.

    Cons

Little chance for advancement as there are few job openings due to frequent layoffs. Many senior people are holding on to their positions. Little to no budget for education. Working in a ocmpany with nearly annual layoffs is a rough experiance.

    Advice to Management

Pick a set of products that we can deliver, we have probably twice as many products as we have people for.

    Pros

Name recognition, work life balance, technologically challenging, diverse technology, time to pursue own goals and research projects, very supportive of new ideas and innovation.

    Cons

Rudderless/clueless upper management, self-motivation is the key.

    Advice to Management

    Get your act together.
