Pros

Energetic, fast paced environment. Some truly gifted team members, not many "D" players and below. Okay benefits package for the US

Cons

Corporate inability to focus on strategic projects or initiatives. Lots of division and unit based infighting and competition. Extremely top-down organization. Opportunities for advancement are limited

Advice to Management

First, establish a GAM for ALL clients, regardless of annual maintenance and licensing, since most clients own products from mulitples units, if not multiple divisions or segments, and these need to prevent internal competition for the same client IT budgets. Second, involve lower tier team members in information gathering and planning sessions as they are ones at the "sharp end of the stick" who understand the day to day processes of the individual unit. Third, make a decision, are we a consulting firm or a software development firm?

    Pros

Dynamic environment that is professionally challenging. Great people that are very helpful and interactive. Very personable environment most of the time.

    Cons

Extremely political. Immediate managers will hang you out to dry on decisions that you made together and situations out of your control. Middle managers carefully word things so as to cover their butts without letting you know full impact of things.

    Advice to Management

Give your experts some real support. Lessen the amazing amount of politics and shield your technologists while they are focussed on what they should be doing, getting the job done. Take responsibility for your decisions.

    Pros

Big name in financial services, decent benefits, you get to work with people who have been in the industry, lots to learn

    Cons

Moderate perks, lower than average salary (unless they called you in there).... thats why i said...negotiate before you join.
HR is horrible ... particularly if you are an immigrant, they know they got you for your golden period and they play it dumb asif no one knows whats happening, but they all do. They will just blame the procedures about it.
Management is mixed, some people are easy and some more politically oriented.
if you are just a straight shooter, but dont know your politics, this place is not for you.

Annual reviews are a joke. They wont even hand it to you after its due for 6 months, still all the "deserving" ones have received their bonuses and pay-increases.

Oh... and the funny thing.... there might be directors and VPs working without any reports.

    Advice to Management

dont hold talent because you own them as per immigration.

judge people by how much they put into the project, not politics.
