Pros

As a long tenured employee if SunGard, I have seen many changes over the years. Overall SunGard is a good place to work. For the most part, the management team has taken the time to develop their skills as managers. I receive regular feedback on how I am performing and what I need to do to receive a promotion. The team I work with at SunGard are all solid performers and are always willing to give you a hand if you get stuck. WE have learned to work as a virtual team which includes employees from all over the world.

Cons

SunGard needs to establish a formal telecommuting policy so all employees are treated fairly.

Advice to Management

Treat all employees farily regardless of location.

    Pros

Some good technical people and energy industry focus. Perks like frequent flyer miles, hotel points and per diems. Lots of dinner parties and nights out on the town boozing at the companies expense.

    Cons

Sweat shop. Extreme and sustained pressure to get projects done for the client even when client keeps moving the target. Poor recruiting process. If a new recruit is overly confident and has worked at a big name company management will believe every word.

    Advice to Management

    Don't push employees so hard.

  2. "Flexible work schedule"

    Pros

Flexible work schedule and Telecommute available once a week.

    Cons

No bonus program. No career or development growth in the San Mateo office.
Lack of respect for the employees at the San Mateo office. Promotions and awards are given to the employees from the Kansas City Office. Benefits are reduced each year since the buyout.

    Advice to Management

Senior Management should recognize that the San Mateo office contributes just as much as the Kansas City office. When Senior Management visits the San Mateo office, they should have the common courtsey to acknowledge the employees when they pass them in the hall.
