    Pros

People were terriffic and very helpful. Frontline employees really cared about clients and wanted to do the best job possible for their own self satisfaction and to provide clients the support they were promised.

    Cons

There's no established career paths for employees and little opportunity for advancement of any kind. An organization of this size and complexity should be able to do better for its employees.

    Advice to Management

Recognize your employees really are your most valuable assets and be willing to invest in them.

  2. "Compelling work, frustrating company."

    Pros

At the forefront of financial industry change. A genuine driver in the industry. A great place for networking and getting to know the operations side of the business.

    Cons

Sungard has not yet fully consolidated it's many acquisitions into a single coherent business. Marketing is permissive of very inexact, obtuse language that makes it difficult to know (from a company description) what any of it's products actually do.

    Advice to Management

Outsourcing work to India is a competitive necessity; however, permitting a lower standard of professional development and administrative conduct reflects badly on SunGard in the developed world. Reimbursing expense systematically late is a sharp practice and damages morale.
