I have been working at Suncor full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good Pay/Benefits (Reliability EIT in Fort McMurray) Exposure to various Electrical & Instrumentation. Working with Maintenance techs and learning the field installation info to enhance technical knowledge. Opportunities to explore career development and trying different roles (subject to availability)

    Cons

Expect lots of organizational changes due to recent cost effective decisions (low oil prices) Office politics with less emphasis for engineers on smaller sites due to more focus on Operations and profits. Leadership tend to focus on performance indicators and limiting work progress. ( Change process approvals are limited, thus putting deliverables on hold).
