I worked at Suncor as an intern (Less than a year)

Pros

Great Pay. Co-op Students get to take part in some PTO days. Work is challenging, but you feel like part of the team. Lot's of team building events and training (even though you are a co-op student). They treat you like you are a permanent employee. The people are awesome! In my department, talking with senior management was encouraged and not intimidating.

Cons

IT support is horrible! Very limited on what you can and cannot do on the computer. For instance, had to get IT approval to install a Microsoft add-on for excel.

I have been working at Suncor as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good place to get experience.
    Competitive compensation.
    Opportunities for advancement.
Good program for co-op/summer students and EIT's

    Cons

    Supply chain is broken.
Projects and operations running 24/7 often held hostage to wait for action by 8am-4pm Mon-Fri. head office personnel.
Employees and contractors both treated as disposable.
    Very, very bureaucratic and inefficient.
    Hypocritical leadersihp

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach and start actually visiting the operations that pay the bills in a meaningful way - ie. get to know the actual operation, one site visit per year on an insulated, whirlwind executive tour does not a thorough understanding make.
