I have been working at Sunovion full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

High pay - pay for performance culture

Cons

Poor pipeline - lack of accountability of senior leadership

Advice to Management

You should not tell managers to "do whatever they need to to get right" about laying off their people. Think about the words that come out of your mouth - people matter. We used to be compassionate even in tough times - now you close an entire division and layoff top performers who are highly respected and who have been loyal - then in the next layoff you make this ridiculous statement about getting right. You are no longer respected and need to leave so that real leaders can rescue the financial, R&D and performance mess you have created.

    Pros

Total compensation package is very fair. Base is good and bonus can be very good if you produce. Uncapped. Overall, interactions with personnel is positive. Many intelligent, hard working representatives and DMs with vision and great ideas.

    Cons

In recent years, extreme pressure to produce. Negative multiplier if you do not meet your quota. Meaning, they begin to take away percent of bonus if less than 100%. Corporate began implementing performance improvement plans for those with less than 100% to goal. Some managers follow through, others try to keep rep off plan. Company is still "finding" itself since being purchased by Japanese company a few years ago. Needs to secure co-promotions and up R&D.

    Advice to Management

Need to shift to a more value-based sales call. Especially with disease states currently promoted - mental illness, respiratory, insomnia. There is much that can be done here. Need to be more aggressive with contracts/managed care. Company dropped the ball on HFA SABA market and competition switches at pharmacy. Continue recognition programs, like Values Matter. Provide more funding to program. Seriously evaluate PIP's. Many star reps on PIP. Many people on PIP for not missing quota by a few percentage points. In some cases, just a few prescriptions. Needs further evaluation and revisions.

  2. "Respectful environment. Good growth until the downsize of the respiratory division."

    Pros

Corporate location and positions are great.

    Cons

May be downsizing again due to loss of Xopenex.

    Advice to Management

Downsizing should be conducted on merit not sales team.
