I have been working at Sur La Table full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Store is fun, cooking classes are fun, discount is nice

Cons

pay is really, incredibly low.

Advice to Management

pay us more, we'll be happier

    I have been working at Sur La Table part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Good Discount
    -Slow during nonholiday weekdays
    -Good pay for workload
    - Some productive and nice coworkers/managers
    -Mostly relaxed environment and with the right shift/people you will forget your even working (but still be productive)
    - Free/discounted cooking classes

    Great discount or mech and classes, usually relaxed environment with little repercussion if you only do the bare minimum. The leads are young and a little unseasoned (other was older and nice but little work ethic), but they're refreshing compared to the inadequate and uncaring managers with their good attitude and work ethic. Enjoy most days except when I have to work with one of the top two when they arent in a good mood. Would recommend a friend to work here...with hope the top improves.

    Cons

    -Schedule a nightmare
    -Crapshoot for whether you have to work a lot. Sometimes you'll be drained with lots of hours/demanding managers or you'll get no hours/work with a manager who doesn't care
    -Worthless or Rude coworkers/managers
    -Certain managers play favorites for hours/quality shifts/zoning
    -Early morning stock schedule possibility
    -Only negative reinforcement from SM
    -Chefs don't seem to helpful

    Advice to Management

    Get some consistency, listen and don't talk down to your employees. If you treat them like equals you will get a much better work ethic then if you simply threaten them with less hours or show a lack of caring if they stay or go.

    I have been working at Sur La Table part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great discount, coworkers, and products. The work environment is great, and the store management does a great job in guiding the sales associates, but they are limited because often corporate is breathing down their necks.

    Cons

    Hiring process is very biased. Low pay for sales associates, and especially culinary assistants. Especially the nature of the work

    Advice to Management

    Give leadership positions to those with experience within the company, so that they may actually know the product
