I worked at Symantec full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Ethics driven Company
As an intern, I didn't find any politics, everybody was nice and helpful
Good pay and nice cafe

Cons

Not everybody is smart (some people are just going along because they have been at the company long)
Older workforce in general makes it less attractive for new interns and new hires

Advice to Management

Hire more young people, and make changes fast (older workforce although good, is still resistant to change...just my impression though)

    Great products.
    Best game in town.
    Steve Bennett as CEO now.

    Cons

Slow recovery from the previous leadership.
    Inconsistent across divisions and groups.
Poor project management and implementation. Constant bandaids to everything, poor processes.
    Disconnected senior management layers.
Difficult to do business internally (IT experience is horrible).
Understaffed, limited resources, overloading with many roles.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your people.
    Invest internally.

    Pros

    Smart leadership
Trusts you to design strategies and execute at a high level
Risk oriented and creative in terms of career opportunities

    Cons

Vision from leadership does not cascade down very well
Too many confidential searches regarding poor performance management

    Advice to Management

Unified simpler vision that ties into a clear talent brand. What does the new Symantec want to be, post Steve Bennett.
