Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Symantec as a contractor (Less than a year)

Pros

Company still has great customer retention because of their great products

Cons

Obviously they needed a new CEO with some serious planning and management vision. The culture here has been taken over by India culture. If your not form India, you have very little chance of getting anywhere. They take care of themselves!

Advice to Management

Need to come back to an American based culture and management styles.

I worked at Symantec full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good work life balance. Supportive management. Generous in providing lab equipment for both home and offices. Friendly, hard working people.

    Cons

Low pay for talented sales engineers. These people are critical to the success of the account executives, yet they don't receive bonuses commensurate with their impact on the sales. They are often overlooked and just expected to "produce".

    Advice to Management

Be great at a few things, not ordinary in a lot of things. The company is not focused on solutions that deliver value. Customers are replacing them and given the recent firing of the CEO, it looks like it is not getting any better. They need to decide if they are a storage company or a security company; being both is not working out.
