I have been working at Syntel full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Has some good projects in Banking & Financial Sector
    - Projects where this vendor is the end to end owner of the clients proprietary in-house developed software platform. hence you get an exposure of working and handling all facets of the development life cycle right till it goes live.
    - Committed senior work force having excellent technical & domain knowledge
    - Has good onsite opportunities
    - Things are being put in place so as to make organisation reach billion $ revenue club, hence would see lot of aggressive maneuvers by senior management to get more work orders from overseas so you would be busy for sure :)

    Cons

    - Work life balance,
    - Not much invested in training freshers/ campus recruits. hence you have "half baked potatoes"
working in projects on strict timelines who haven't understood absolute basic of the job (i.e coding).
which kind of drains out the energy of senior members of the team who ensure quality is not compromised.
    - Some locations have very bad infrastructure, crowded cubicles, no cafeteria
    - Most of Middle & lower management basically thrives on "Jugaad" .No processes No standards.

    Advice to Management

    - Invest more on freshers training if not hire more laterals

  2. "A very good learning ground for people in IT"

I worked at Syntel full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great place to join for fresh graduates who are technology oriented people with interest in IT and software development. A very good learning ground with good projects and contemporary technologies to work hands on. Reasonably good work environment and low to moderate communication barriers with the management. Also there are good onsite opportunities if you have a not too bad fortune. :)

    Cons

Very low on compensation and increments. Even with a best in class appraisal and ratings, the monetary increments are usually quite low.

    Advice to Management

Management should be a bit more employee centric. There is scope for some improvement in the work environment that prevails around in few of the business units.
