I worked at T. D. Williamson as a contractor (Less than a year)

Pros

Great working environment, safety first. Enjoyed working with the associates I was in direct contact with. Team oriented company with good values.

Cons

Shallow minded, not nearly as family oriented as they claim. Not willing to accept a person for who they are today. Wouldn't know good help if it slapped them in the face.

Advice to Management

Take a look at the person, not their background when making an employment decion. Don't allow HR and legal to make the decision based on things that occurred 13 years ago. Be open minded enough to know when you have the opportunity to hire good help.

I have been working at T. D. Williamson full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent co-workers, company is truly interested in your success.

    Cons

Some of the newer management members do not have the experience of working in a family owned company and some of the values that go along with that are being lost in the transitions to the company being global. Managers don't seem to understand that employees have a life outside of work.

    Advice to Management

More extensive training for new managers.

I have been working at T. D. Williamson full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Use to be a great company to work for.

    Cons

TDW culture has become extremely political. Managers hired from outside TDW three years ago have strangled the company completely, morale among employees is very low. Ones who can are either taking early retirement and ones who can not are finding employments somewhere else. Used to be the case where you were promoted on the basis of your experience and knowledge. Now a days, its who you know. Top three managers are sitting in ivory tower collecting yearly bonuses.

    Advice to Management

Put TDW culture back to how it was 5 years ago. This new management has brought nothing new to TDW except resentments. If possible, get rid of top 3 managers. This will cause people to stay and this mass exodus of experienced people we are experiencing will stop. TDW is not Baker Hughes neither TDW is anything else.
