    I worked at T-Mobile full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It is nice to be on the leading edge of the wireless industry.
Devices are fast and have the "cool" factor to them.
Employee rate plans are extremely advantageous.

    Cons

Very low reputation throughout the business community.
Tough to be taken seriously or even given a second look by prospects throughout the area.
Management has minimal B2B marketing ideas and minimal desire to interact with the customers/prospects.

    Advice to Management

T-Mobile struggles to remain relevant to the corporate prospects in light of the ubiquity of the Verizon Wireless network. Prospects have minimal interest, if any, in exploring T-Mobile as a wireless provider. Management must do something to increase T-Mobile’s exposure and expand the network coverage. Otherwise corporate prospects will continue to look the other way.

I have been working at T-Mobile full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Decent benefits
    Generous vacation
    Nice facilities
    Flexible work hours
    Many brilliant people work here
"Startup" environment with lots of growth potential (for the company)

    Cons

Pays lip service to employee development
Retaliatory environment versus open and honest
    Favoritism and cronyism are pervasive
Lack of women and minorities in leadership roles
    Overly complex processes
    Outdated, inadequate systems

    Advice to Management

Take another look at your managers, especially your team leads. The annual employee satisfaction survey is useless because there is never any action take as a result. 360 reviews should happen quarterly, and management should be rated on the results. Employees feel frustrated and disconnected. T-Mobile makes a big fuss over values, but it's lip service. Promotions, awards and appraisal/calibrations are a popularity contest, not related to merit. Bad managers are not coached, counseled or disciplined and employees face retaliation if they ask HR for support. When I receive advice from a director that the way to succeed is to bite my tongue, hide my feelings, nod my head and smile - that's a bad way to run a business and completely stifles employee creativity, productivity and satisfaction. I don't have a job description, and made up my own goals based on what I thought I should be doing. If I'm wrong, instead of direction I get criticism. I want to work hard and contribute, but without these basics it's not easy. I'm not alone - my entire group is looking for a new job.
