Pros

Managers (at least mine) actually listened to and advocated for their employees. Great pay. Nice perks. Good culture -- people didn't seem miserable.

Cons

As with any big company, can take a while for things to get done. Lots of layers, etc. But definitely moves faster than other big companies I've worked for.

Advice to Management

Don't advance those mid- to senior mgrs who just go through the motions. Do more to keep smart, talented people on board.

I have been working at T-Mobile full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Overall environment is positive, benefits are not the best in the area but still very good

    Cons

Very fast paced, leadership makes decisions last minute creating swirl and the need to work outside of core business hours often

I have been working at T-Mobile full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

employee benefits have been improved since T-Mobile merged with Metro, now an owner of the company via stock options and employee purchase program, being a member of the team who helps change the face of telecom in the US, being on the bleeding edge of technology and design

    Cons

Lack of career growth opportunities with the design discipline, learning and development for user experience and design is non-existent, getting buy in from leadership on properly resourcing project to adequately cover all the design needs for developing apps is slow and painful, base compensation is not competitive with today's market rates for UX designers

    Advice to Management

give user experience an equal seat at the table in the company and on projects, instead seeing it as a step in the process of deploying apps best handled by outside experts; find ways to inspire loyalty, invest in and foster growth of the user experience and design community within T-Mobile, invest in training for mobile UX for your designers, take a hard look at compensation packages for designers to make sure they are competitive
