I have been working at TD full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Tons of opportunity, growing and financially-stable large bank. If you're career oriented you can work your way up the ladder especially if you have receptive management. Their development and coaching models are effective when they're used fairly and management is enthusiastic. The amount of vacation time they give you is ridiculously awesome.

Cons

There is too much turnover along the entire footprint and a lot of it is due to the discrepancies of the locations in quality and service. The internal raises are terrible, and everyone knows the only way to get more money is to get promoted, so people chase promotions to get the money without being ready, and end up getting overworked, overwhelmed, or worse case, terminated. The bank is growing too quickly and the good people are being spread too thin or and are looking elsewhere for more stable jobs in order to not burn out.

Advice to Management

Please take care of the people under you and help them grow.

I have been working at TD full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great culture - based on trust
Flexible working hours based on team and manager
Not on federal lifeline, nor struggling with sub-prime loans

    Cons

Not very agile with decisions or execution
Not risk taking or cutting edge with anything
Canadian parent - hence super-conservative culture pervades

    Advice to Management

Focus on IT strategy as a dedicated discipline, and not expect it to happen as part of other roles

I have been working at TD full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    co-workers are friendly
its a decent bank to start your career

    Cons

you are pushed to "embrace the culture" or else
no balance of work and life
    below average pay and benefits,
having experience mean nothing to them it seems they care more about you being a seat filler especially in the busier branches
customer service is a joke and any small service issue takes days to happen
    too much ass-kissing
    branch managers are not qualified

    Advice to Management

just listen to employees and especially the customers
maybe visit a company that provides excellent customer service and learn...i.e apple, nordstrom, Bank of america
