I have been working at TDS Telecommunications full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Nice benefits
Pay is competitive - bonus when goals are hit and sometimes even when not
Great environment mostly great people to work with
Commitment from Corporate
Limited instances of old school hierarchy mentality
Access to leadership in nearly all cases
People work hard
Madison is a great place to live
Office is a great building, in a safe place, with access to anything you need at lunch or after work

Cons

Not sure where company is going
Seems to live in old world where decisions didn't need to be made immediately
Some executives are clearly riding it out until retirement and won't put their necks on the line
Politics more pervasive than they appear
HR not very good at recruiting but active in keeping the organization competitive

Advice to Management

The company needs an influx of new executives to jump start the company.
Make decisions promptly

    I worked at TDS Telecommunications full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    parking lot and benefit package

    you are a punching bag with no company support if something goes wrong - department managers prioritize $/call over everything else - I was fired because a customer complained about my tone of voice on an outbound collection call - if the complaint goes to human resources you are thrown out the door even though your performance metrics are outstanding (as were mine - two million dollars in 23 months for this company) - in other words, don't trust them.

    Advice to Management

    back up your employees if you expect them to do your dirty work - also get rid of the rats in human resources who take your version of the events and twist them to fire you - this happened to five other experienced top financial services collectors within a 6 week time span of my firing - what's really going on here? I smell many rats at this company.

    dialer is a serious problem to route calls to certain people and not giving a fair share of calls

    Advice to Management

    change dialer to give everyone a fair shot at sales calls and not just service/billing calls.
