Pros

Great People, Relaxed atmosphere, great medical benifits, get to learn new things. Pretty good pay. Low stress. Great work life balance.

Cons

No room for growth, not a lot of jobs opening up. Job gets boring after a while, job gets repetitive. Alot of people have been with the company for 15 to 20 years and never leave their position. If you are a technician you are stuck.

Advice to Management

Come up with a way to promote, or move people around to different jobs. Excitement for the company is lost when there is nowhere else to go.

    Pros

Creative environment with few tangible limitations to freedom in exploring new ideas. The average workers that make up the company are some of the warmest and supportive people of any tech company in the area. There is a palpable desire for some kind of breakout.

    Cons

The company is still stuck in its past individual legacies that cause either no movement or a glacial pace of movement of new ideas, technologies, products into existing markets and rarely new markets. The average employee, though generally satisfied to have a job, is tentative and overly cautious while upper management seems to continually push a view of the company taken through rose colored glasses. Everything is far too average.

    Advice to Management

Challenge human resources to return the focus for company success to the individual success of its employees through driven career development programs, incentive programs, awards programs and bonus programs that highlight the innovations of its employees and ensures the growth of the company.

    Pros

The pay was OK for the area. My immediate supervisor was great.

    Cons

Constant fear of losing your job. The vast majority of the people that have been there a long time (10-15+ yrs) have been let go and hired back multiple times. At least in engineering, there is a core group of people that have been there for 10+ years, then there is every body else who are constantly on the bubble. When layoffs come around, and they will, those lowest on the totem pole get axed and the core guys stay. So there is NO WAY to become someone with lots of experience and vital to your group.

    Advice to Management

Stop chasing the stock price, and start focusing on making products. Do not treat your engineers like a commodity item that can be hired and fired like the ebb and flow of the tides. Engineers need time and experience to be able to innovate. You can not just grab a engineer off the street, place them in a cube and expect them to keep producing like the person with 5 yrs experience you fired a year ago.
