Pros

Great oppurtinties for growth
Great pay and benifits

Cons

Long hours on many occasions
Job stabaility

Advice to Management

more input from employees on the front lines--and not just those in the large cities such as NY, Chicago, Indianapolis, etc. There's a lot of wealth out there in the other front offices, yet no one asks us to participate in input on new systems, policies, etc. We end up with too many policies and procedures that then have to be retracted because someone didn't even try to see the whole picture.

    Pros

Everyone is pleasant and willing to say hi or help. Schedules are flexible. People treat eachother like family. Gym, food, and snacks are great benefits. Pension.

    Cons

Not a hometown company anymore since being sold out to Canada which is very disappointing. I joined TECO to work for my neighbors, and now they work for Canadians who are always on a fire drill. What was once a laid back, slow paced, family environment, is now a stressful, burnt out, scared for your job environment.

    Advice to Management

Stop overworking employees! Not everything is a fire. Also, Emera needs to allow for more resources that are needed in certain areas. Some departments don't have enough work to do while others are working overtime every day and it's burning everyone out. Prepare for higher turnover.

I have been working at TECO Energy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of food. Seriously, they'll find any reason to throw together a breakfast or lunch and pizza parties. Snack carts, etc

    Lots & lots of overtime

    Cons

All that overtime is mandatory, 12-16 hour days are not uncommon in any department.
    Micromanagment.
    Favoritism.
No flexibility in anything at all.
Schedule changes with little warning, sometimes none at all.
    High turn over rate.
    Employees are burnt out.
Overwhelmed, overworked and zero employee appreciation.

    Advice to Management

Dont just SAY that you appreciate your employees, prove it.
