I have been working at TEKsystems as a contractor (More than a year)

Pros

They get you in much easier than a permanent hire; by the same token, as a contractor you have no permanence. Be sure to perform due diligence to negotiate a rate acceptable to you.

Cons

Don't count on anything not negotiated in writing. Benefits are available at (high) cost.

Advice to Management

Provide better education benefits to employees; the investment will come back to you in higher rates from the customers.

I have been working at TEKsystems as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Good company to start with and get some experience right out of college. The job differs contract to contract. Was offered medical and dental benefits which I declined ( I just wanted the cash ). They always have new jobs to take. The job I took had a lot of overtime so the pay was very good for the area.

    Cons

Not much time off due to the overtime of the job and no paid vacation. Also no 401K plans, so long term with the company is basically out of the question.

    Advice to Management

Invest more in benefits that promote long term employees even though you deal with contracts. It will provide you with more experienced professionals that want to keep working with you.

I worked at TEKsystems as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great education toolset free and readily available while contracted with them. Many courses were PDU eligible.

    Cons

Not able to quickly place me on any additional assignment once original assignment ended.
High turn over of account managers. Was hard to keep up with them.

    Advice to Management

Work with your account manager and share your needs freely and often for the best assistance from Tek Systems.
