    Pros

Amazing growth opportunities, great benefits, excellent vacation accrual. Friendly and Family like atmosphere even in a large corporate setting.

    Cons

The process for obtaining a raise in pay is outdated. The systems utilized are outdated and need updated.

    Advice to Management

Update your IT systems, provide pay increases based on performance (or cost of living) without the requirement to write a book about why it should be provided.

"So so. Decent technical training, no true sales training, and a lot of micro-managing."

I have been working at TESSCO full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good value prop, good to customers, large product base, decent reputation in the wireless industry. Decent base income if you negotiate. Job security in the sense that biz around for some time. In a lot of ways they try to develop a good culture (BBQs, dress down days, great Halloween parties) but other bad practices dilute these efforts.

    Cons

Immature leadership, which is unlikely to change as there is no trust or power In leadership. Agreed with former reviews of "cult-like" environment-- hold on to old practices that are keeping us in the 50s. They have a "but we've always done it this way" mentality. Good old boys network and HR is ineffective at best and attitude is they do nothing but coordinate events at the office. Not open to new treads in business (very old non-intuitive computer system that takes months to stumble through, micromanage time of even the most seasoned/experienced employees). Extreme micro-management, though it ebbs and flows in intensity. Must document where you are every second in the computer, though you are supposed to be professional salary employee. Indeed no salary increases as general rule so negotiate up front. Management has allegiance to very strange business practices that I've never witnessed in sales organizations (ex. the amount of time a sales person spends on the phone is more important than the GP they bring in). Poor performers/offensive employees can remain indefinitely do to tenure or shared political views.

    Advice to Management

Put experienced and effective leaders in place (probably needs to be brought from outside company), institute real sales training for staff and expect staff to sell not just check off boxes, abandon old methods that hold us back, decode complex commission structure so employees can be excited about their monthly checks. Cut the fat of old employees and bring in experienced staff and listen to what they say about how other businesses are run. When all the new talents cringes from certain TESSCO practices (like micromanagement piece) take it as cue to consider change.
