Denied Employment due to "Depressive Disorder" after 4 month application process

    Pros

    There were absolutely no positives.

    Cons

I initially breezed through the TSA application process in March 2021, taking tests, background checks, and was extended a contingent offer. Then at the end of April their website apparently "crashed" and all the applications got hung up across the board. I wasn't interviewed until July and by that time they had somehow duplicated my online portal application to cause further confusion. Despite a pending Medical Evaluation and further background checks, I was being congratulated by the interviewers as if I had already been given the job. Oh, how wrong I was to think that. At the END of the TSA application process is a Medical Evaluation conducted by a third-party company (probably because it falls into the grey area of the law). Why do they wait to do medical screening until AFTER tests, interviews, and background checks? Again, I'm guessing it's a bit of a legal faux pas to deny people employment due to medical disabilities right off the bat. Thinking I already had the job I didn't lie on my Medical Evaluation and admitted to having suffered major depression in 2017. Go into a local doctor who gives me the pass, but warns me that he has to send everything to a third party on the east coast before finally being able to work. Nearly 5 months after the initial application I receive an e-mail from the third-party doctor for the TSA who has never seen me face-to-face that I'm medically unfit due to "Depressive Disorder". 5 Months of time wasted.
