Pros

They hire pretty intelligent and talented people. Culture is very work hard, play hard. Good product in its space, with innovative engineers. Good camaraderie between team members.

Cons

Management plays favorites. You have to conform to their sales methodology. Territories are not created equal, leads to poor moral between teams.

Advice to Management

Have a genuine care for your sales team and their success, rather than only interested in hitting your own goals.

    Pros

Become an expert at a highly sought after product in a field that is growing rapidly.

    Cons

Middle / Upper management (not C-level) saturated by old school, big BI professionals. Does not mesh with Tableau methodology and culture.

    Advice to Management

Keep the culture as it is, but have a hard look at what you value your employees at.

I have been working at Tableau Software full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There is a lot of entry-level scripted sales and product training, emphasis on required certifications to ensure employee readiness, and many nice career growth opportunities for new graduates that do not have high salary or commission needs. Most Tableau staff are very young, go-getter professionals.

    Cons

Ex-SAP management and inexperienced management are a real downer in what could be a great place to work. Experienced professionals are not valued due to the simplicity of the Tableau solution. There is a cultural divide between new and original Tableau, role overlaps, over ambitiously set quotas, and growing pains.

    Advice to Management

With significantly increased competition in what used to be a unique niche market, revisit the transactional sales approach, upgrade/change management, and add more true enterprise level sales reps into the equation.
