I worked at Talisman Energy as a contractor (More than a year)

Pros

Competitive salaries, diversified company thus many opportunities to move within the firm

Cons

Understaffed, non-supportive environment, very high turnover rate as upper management does not know how to retain talent

Advice to Management

The people makes the company, not the other way around

    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Talisman Energy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Competitive salaries
Good focus on career and personal development (depending upon who your leader is)
    Values community involvement
Global company, with potential for international experience (depending upon who your leader is)
Flexibility in terms of schedule, ie. work from home options, flex days, start late/leave late, start early/leave early (depending upon who your leader is)

    Cons

Lack of honesty and integrity amongst senior and executive leadership team
"Act now, think later" approach to decision making
Lack of equitable treatment when it comes to employees
Work/Life balance is preached, but never practiced and only encouraged on the surface
Severe lack of effective processes and procedures - everything is a "bandaid" fix
Company's core values (safety, honest communication, passion, results, respect, excellence and team work) are talked up, but never practiced
The more noice you make, the more obnoxious and disrepectful you are, the higher you climb on the ladder

    Advice to Management

People don't leave companies, they leave leaders. A serious audit of the senior and executive leadership team is required - honest people with heart and integrity who are willing to set the example for the type of behavior that will bring this company out of the weeds.
