I worked at Tangoe full-time (More than a year)

Pros

- Fun, relaxed environment if you are doing your work
- Business casual dress
- Flexibility in schedule, allow you to make it your own

Cons

- Lack of growth
- Poor management structure
- No official policies for a lot of the sales policy
- Management plays favorites

Advice to Management

Need to get the salesforce to have some consistency and create policies for some structure and make sure those policies are actually used. Management also needs to keep it fair across all sales employees and not play favorites

I have been working at Tangoe full-time

    Pros

Friendly coworkers, casual work environment, some very intelligent and savvy people that really understand the market potential for the product.

    Cons

Where to begin? Since going public, concern is focused on acquisitions, increasing revenue while lowering overhead. Unfortunately, management is willing to lower margins so significantly that employee morale suffers. More work, less pay, fewer benefits. Very unorganized between divisions within the company. The left hand rarely has any idea what the right hand is doing or how they do it. Consequently, work duplication and headaches abound. Additionally, the best and brightest eventually leave for better opportunities because management has only recently developed a raise structure that rewards performance. There is a large group of employees that were hired when salaries were much higher that do not perform at the same level of lesser-paid employees. Management sometimes appears to be developing strategies on the fly (a throw everything at the wall and lets see what sticks kind of mentality) that results in frustration as processes constantly change and job performance expectations that are never uniform. Processes are starting to be streamlined, but there's still a lot of work to be done.

    Advice to Management

A good summary of problems would be that management doesn't seem to understand or care about the grievances of their subordinates. Direct supervisors are very supportive, but they are not the decision makes. It doesn't feel like anyone cares about your successes, only your failures. Management should learn to recognize and reward hard and accurate work and high performance or only those looking to do the minimum to not be fired are likely to remain long-term.
