Pros

Taos has excellent employee benefits; professional reimbursement for books, training and certifications, limited 401k matching, full health, commuter checks. Plenty of opportunities to grow your professional and technical skills. Generally employ competent and capable staff.

Cons

Often mismanaged communication between internal staff and technical consultants. Little insight into what's going on in Taos. Some of their clients treat consultants poorly. They keep their consultants on assignment too long. Taos cares more about the client's money than consultants. Sales staff is not technical which leads to confusion with technical consultants. Poor communication with assignment details at beginning and end of assignments. Drink tickets (lame!) at company events.

Advice to Management

Manage the communications with consultants in the field better.

"Work here only if you're ok with greedy management, high turnover, and seeing nepotism runs amok."

    Pros

Compensation plans are pretty good overall but benefits are lacking. There are definitely some very good internal employees and consultants who work for Taos but again those are the ones that the upper management still feel are useful and they can squeeze any kind of effort and skill out of. Once they feel you're usefulness is at an end they'll throw you out like yesterday's day garbage. I was witness to our CEO calling a former colleague who worked there for 7 years the "Heart and Soul" of Taos in public on several occasions but when they felt she was no longer doing what they wanted they fired her and made it seem like she left of her own accord which was completely false and untrue.

    Cons

Management is incredibly greedy and unappreciative of the work put in by people especially if results aren't as stellar as previously. They are very much a what have you done for me lately company and they overcharge clients for sometimes lackluster talent and skill set. They will bill an $85000/yr mid level person at $120/hr which is excessive and unethical. They are stingy with their benefits, PTO, holiday and tuition reimbursement. They don't reward loyalty unless you're related to someone on the executive team or are willing to be submissive and follow their rigid view of what a Taos employee should be. Executive staff is also two-faced to clients, smiling them to their face while berating them behind their back which I witness on multiple occasions.

    Advice to Management

Stop being so greedy and only catering and hiring close relatives and friends.

    I worked at Taos full-time

    Pros

Good management, fun office, knowledgable peers.

    Cons

Sometimes an overwhelming amount of work and expectations are set too high due to lack of tools available.

    Advice to Management

Don't hire people only to let them go in a short amount of time. Make sure you have work for them to do and an idea in mind before you create a new role.
