I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

It was great to be a part of their team for the Christmas Holiday season. Plenty of hours available and you provide the uniform, red shirt, beige or khaki pants but most important are comfortable shoes.

Cons

As usual with any hourly job there are lots of people to tell you what to do and where to go. Majority of supervisors or M.O.D. (manager on duty) were just out of college and many were still in school. HR person was sweet and understanding to the "older" employees.

Advice to Management

Needs to be an easlier way to pick up payroll and check on hours assigned

    Pros

This company is well organized. They give decent benefits, even to part timers, and an employee discount. They do strive to have a positive atmosphere in the workplace. You are welcome to challenge your superiors and they have regular meetings to discuss areas you feel that the company can improve.

    Cons

They do expect you to work hard and it is sometimes difficult to meet their goals. The hours can be difficult to and they are not always flexible with scheduling. You also have to wear red shirts and khaki pants.

    Pros

Good Insurance for team members that qualify.
Company stresses training and supports the "team" environment.
Truly a diverse and dynamic team (at the stores) - all ages, ethnicities, religions, etc.

    Cons

Most team members need to be available for both 1st and 2nd shifts (basically the store hours).
If you work as a hourly team member and want to move into Store Management, you will likely "top out" at the Hourly Team Lead level and NEVER make it to the Executive Team Lead level or higher. The Exec Team Leads are 99.9999999999 % recruited fresh from college with degrees in hand.

    Advice to Management

Please start looking at and promoting the hourly team members in your stores. There is a lot of talent in the stores that is being held back given the current climate of hiring recent college grads for Exec Levels or higher.
