I have been working at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits for a retail position, and better pay than many competitors.

As an hourly worker, by keeping my schedule fairly open (e.g. evenings and weekends) and working pretty hard I have gotten enough hours to pay the rent.

It is possible to be promoted into hourly positions with higher pay and responsibility.

    Fairly easy to get hired.

    Cons

You will may never have Thanksgiving with your family again, nor any other national holiday.

If you aren't available for Saturdays, Sundays, and evenings till midnight, you will probably not get enough hours to pay your bills six months out of the year.

If they would have a hard time replacing you in your current role that may stop you from being promoted.

Some of your work may be pointless or redundent such as doing something and then having to put everything back as it was because someone in management made a mistake or because the computer system was badly programed.

    Advice to Management

Update the computer system so that the backroom stops sending things to the floor every hour that don't have a location, and stop dropping EXFs that overfill locations on the floor.

When you schedule someone to work in a better paid work center, actually pay them the hourly rate for that work center.

Set up more promotion opportunities for high performing employees to stop them from leaving Target.

The safety rules, and policy guidelines that you have written down in HR are generally good, but you need to know exactly why they are not being followed properly and take steps to correct that.
