I worked at Target part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Interviewed & hired quickly
Executive Team Leads were professional and fair
Company has strong ethical culture

Cons

Hired me, but then informed me that they didn't have any hours available for another 3 weeks.
Training & supervision was very hands off
No clear expectations
Hard to get inside the culture. I felt like an outsider.
Pays less than WalMart

Advice to Management

Follow up with new employees more, be clear on what is expected. Spend more time telling employees how the store works, who is in charge of what.

I worked at Target full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Target has a great reputation in the community and we were very involved with giving back.

    Cons

The politics in the distribution is beyond unacceptable. It is a entity of its own and often does not represent the reputation of Target as a whole. It is a team member driven atmosphere and as a Group leader you have the title and the money but no authority. It is clear because they are always have open group leader positions. Senior Group Leaders have full authority over your career and if they do not care for you they will work you out by any means necessary., as long as the center is performing, nobody at home office cares. I was a minority that was targeted by my supervisor with no one to turn to. Is this the Target that you know?

    Advice to Management

Dont look the other way because a distribution center is performing. If there are red flags, ask questions and not just of the team members and group leaders you are presented with. Give your leaders a voice.
