I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

Pros

Flexible schedule with various hours to work.

Cons

I outperformed other team members for 3 consecutive months and was acknowledged by team leader, never a store manager. However, instead of receiving bonuses or higher pay for working hard, I was simply rewarded with a bag of candy for everything I had done. This included coming in on days off to take shifts that had been called out of, working in other departments during busy hours, and help pulling the weight of other workers who did not fulfill what was required of them. Also, the lack of training by management to team leads and team leads to part-time work can be seen. Especially, during holidays when new employees are brought in to deal with the busy season. They were simply pawned on to other part-time workers who may or who may not know what they are doing.

Advice to Management

Don’t be so quick to point out all of the negatives without having something positive to say as well. Acknowledge your employees when they do something well or more efficiently because without them the store wouldn’t exist. Help properly train team leads and part-time employees more effectively.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay is decent, nice people all the time, well organized system, no pressure environment, and it's usually fun to work.

    Cons

When it comes to promotions, either your the one, or your not. Promoting can be a big hassel.

  2. "Great for a start. Get in, Learn what you can, then get out....Quick!"

I worked at Target (More than a year)

    Pros

    People you work with
Benefits pckg (health insurance and so-forth)
Knowlege you gain if you're cross-trained in several areas (always a + and they love it)

I was there for 2.5 years and overall loved my job.

    Cons

    Minimum wage to start out
    Terrible payraises
    Can be hard to advance
Be careful speaking up with your opinions. They say they're against retaliation, but that isn't below them.

    Advice to Management

When telling TM's you're going to develope them, actually do it. Set a plan and follow through. Be more hands on with your team. Be mindful who you're letting go. You know you won't be able to replace those exceptional TM's.
