    Pros

Best benefits in retail, More opportunities for career retailers at all levels

    Cons

Doesn't do enough at the lower levels to encourage people to stay and move up from within the company.

    Advice to Management

Promote more from hourly to salary. Increase hourly start wage.

I have been working at Target full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Work is pretty easy, people are generally pretty nice, and the company actively promotes a culture of recognition and gratitude for the work done by even the lowest rungs of the hierarchy. You clock in, you clock out, and forget about it. Its a very structured environment to work in, which was good for me because i prefer structure. The pay is congruent with what you should expect for the qualifications they have to hire people.

There is some opportunity for advancement from team member to team lead positions, and from team lead to ETL, though the latter requires a degree.

    Cons

Incompetence is easy to hide. My team was constantly picking up after overnight / flow, finding work that was done in a hurry, rather than done correctly, not using PDAs to find the proper homes for products to get pushed to (creating pricepoint differences that customers later complain about), finding expensive equipment left out overnight on the sales floor after the doors open, etc. Nothing ever came of it, no one investigates this. There is little/no accountability. Its too easy to blend into the masses.

    Advice to Management

Keep a closer eye on your newer team members, ask them about how they do their work and the processes involved. Look for omissions of important steps, such as finding the correct schematic for the products they push, rather than blindly assuming its all the same product.
