I worked at Target as an intern (More than a year)

Pros

Target is a very fun place to work. Depending on your location and demographic, the culture of the store can vary. I was placed in a minority abundant neighborhood. Many of the guests had large families but low basket value, meaning there were a lot of people to came in and out of the store, but our sales were relatively low. You get to work with a lot of different people, age and culture. It's really a great place to work if you want to gain leadership and management experience.

Cons

The position was fun but it was not as challenging as I had hoped. The good thing about the internship is that if you do well, it's highly likely you will get a full time offer. Their compensation is very generous, especially for a recent college graduate.

I worked at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -flexible with schedule
    -employee discount and promotins
    -employee appreciation days
    -enjoyed working with fellow employees

    Cons

-compensation and benefits could be better (see advice to management)
-many positions were cut during the recession, increasing the workload and responsibilities

    Advice to Management

compensation and benefits are lacking, and I actually took a paycut to come from Wal-Mart to Target. Higher compensation/benefits could lead to long-term employees, instead of constantly cycling through them.

I have been working at Target full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The core values of Target make it a great company to work for. The atmosphere is great and team members are regularly recognized for great work. Expectations are high and development of team members is HUGE. Pay is pretty good, too. Each day is different and presents new challenges which means work is always exciting!

    Cons

Sometimes guests are not pleasant, but that goes with any job in customer service.
