I have been working at Target full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They will usually hire anyone as they have an enormous turnover rate, so good hold over job in desperation.

    Cons

You get a raise once a year and the highest I have heard was 38 cents. For an entire year, some people got as low as 3 cents. What they expect of you of you is way higher than they pay you.

    Advice to Management

Help out with the workload sometimes instead of sitting in an office all day.

I worked at Target full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Pay is very good for the hours that you work
    - Work / Life balance is a huge emphasis
    - Good job for someone out of college with little experience
    - Name recognition

    Cons

    - Skills learned from training are not terribly applicable to anywhere outside of retail
    - Computer systems will most definitely mess up, and you might be blamed for it
    - Very political. A lot of groupthink / drinking the KoolAid
    - Staying late is viewed negatively
    - Your outcome is heavily dependent on whether your manager likes you (i.e. performance goals are very subjective)
    - The company is very conservative when it comes to some projects (expanding internationally only now) and too risky when it comes to others (overforecasting the Neiman Marcus collection)
    - Culture is insular

    Advice to Management

    - Let employees/managers choose which groups they want to work for / with. Opaque HR process is stressful and may lead you to work in a group where you don't fit
    - Start taking more strategic risks... it's incredible that it's only now, 50 years after the original store, that Target is expanding abroad
