I have been working at Target full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Target is always changing and doing what they have to do to stay relevant and profitable. I have never had to worry about being laid off. The company funds many fun events for team members.

Cons

The company seems to prefer hiring externals rather than promoting from within for higher level positions. Compensation and benefits are poor-fair. Managers tend to be inexpirienced and manager turn over is high.

Advice to Management

Consider the benefits that promoting from within could bring the company, employees would be much more invested in the company and turnover would decrease.

"Great if you are young and fabulous-if you are over 35 with retail experience you probably won't be hired."

I worked at Target full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Brand Recognition/customer loyalty. They have loyal shoppers.

    Cons

They like their leadership young-straight out of college and cheap! If they want you gone, they will find a way/excuse.

    Advice to Management

It's pretty obvious you do not value experience over a cute 26 year old with a college degree. In the 10+ years I was there I saw one person retire. Everyone gets old eventually. When Bob Ulrich retired as CEO the company went downhill rapidly.

I have been working at Target full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great co-workers, decent pay but not good, nice company to work for long term. Clean store and organized.

    Cons

Bad pay, very hard to get promoted from within, management could be better. Bad discount.

    Advice to Management

Understand what the basic TM does everyday and really see how much work it really is than just giving orders saying it could be done in a un realistic time frame.
