I have been working at Target full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Great work environment, great benefits,

Cons

Too much paper work and too many trainings.

Advice to Management

Less paper work and less trainings for better work/life balance. Vacation coverage should be a breeze and not be so complicated.

"Target Cares More about RedCards than it's Employees..."

I have been working at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Easy
    Overall friendly co-workers
Easy to give shifts up/ pick up extra hours
    Easy to get time off

    Cons

As a cashier, if you don't get redcards on every shift you will be hounded for it... relentlessly.

For a while, if you didn't get a redcard every shift, they would write you up. They later stopped doing that because our STL (store manager) got in trouble for it. However, now they resort to writing you up for little things (like not smiling enough), instead of directly writing you up for not getting redcards. A few weeks ago I (a long with more than half of the other cashiers) was put on corrective action for a month for "not standing at the end of my lane" when we weren't busy. Ironically, everyone who was put on corrective action were people who struggled with getting redcards regularly.

It's frustrating when Target would only recognize you for being a "good cashier" if you get a redcard. They ignore guest compliments like being fast, being a good bagger, or being friendly and helpful. I receive compliments like this often, however Target only will recognize me as being a good cashier when I get redcards.

Bottom line: If you can get redcards easily, Target is the place for you. They will treat you very well, and be a great company to work for.

...BUT if you don't they honestly couldn't care less about you.

    Advice to Management

Please don't rate your employees solely on how many cards they can get in a shift. It's a flawed and corrupt system that's causing you to lose valuable employees.
