I worked at Target full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

-people are kind, genuine, and typically pretty smart
-challenging work
-great environment
-fun, energetic culture
-random perks like hearing Justin Timberlake at a national meeting
-movement from one area to another
-self-driven career
-as a merchant, you have real ownership over your program

Cons

-some roles have less work/life balance than you might want
-elements of "group think" - if you don't fit there, you really don't fit there
-very Midwest feeling - this is good and bad, but may be difficult if those are not your values

Advice to Management

push yourselves to think bigger

I worked at Target full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A lot of room for advancement. The company likes to laterally move or promote executives after 18-24 months, which is great way to keep you engaged. In general, the team members at Target (including most leadership) are fun to work with/for. I met some lifelong friends and learned the core roles of a being a leader.

    Cons

Upper management (district and group level) can make or break your experience at Target. My first 5 years consisted of a lot of rewarding hard work, but once upper leadership drastically changed, the fun and rewarding feeling went away.
