I have been working at Target part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The schedule is very flexible and it is easy to get time off, there are a lot of awesome people who work with you that are willing to help you, Some team leads are helpful, if you kiss up enough you can move up to team lead, Skill level required is really low.

    Cons

Hours are hard to come by during non-holiday times, Expectations are put on you even though there is no real reward for reaching goals, team lead positions are getting phased out so chances for advancement are going away, in store management is becoming more and more corporate so they don't do any store work and delegate everything, new managers are fresh faced college graduates who have never worked retail, pay is not very high but for the required skill level you can't really complain, yearly raises get capped so after a certain amount of time you stop getting raises.

    Advice to Management

Stop becoming corporate and go back to when managers did actual work rather than just walk around and talk about what needs to be done and stop separating yourself from team members and try to actually be a part of the team.
