Pros

Decent pay working overnight. There are some awesome co-workers but a ton of tools, this especially includes management. The store is nice at least.

Cons

Looked down upon by all other parts of the store. The 'store culture' is a complete joke. You are by far the hardest working people in the store, but the least appreciated. Managers are some of the most fake people I've ever met.

Advice to Management

Value your hard working employees!

    I worked at Target full-time

    Pros

You are encouraged and allowed to take on as much responsibility and cross-training as you can stomach.
Benefits are great, but getting worse (for full-time employees): up to 5% 401k matching, pension (if hired before 1/1/2009), health care plans (see Cons).
    Decent culture, fun work environment.

    Cons

No room for promotion unless you have a Bachelor's or better degree.
No bonuses for team members, and hourly pay rates are capped.
You will never meet the District TL's expectations. Store goal is now 2% redcards, nope 3%, nope 4%! Guests on our survey are expected to be 70% "amazed," haha just kidding, now it's 80%.
Health care plans that have become steadily worse to practically worthless (high deductible HSA) in the last couple of years.

I have been working at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great coworkers, dental. Discount stacks with redcard, coupons, cartwheel, etc

    Cons

Training isn't fully fleshed out. The discount is only 10%, but you can only use it with cash, redcard, ebt, or a gift card (which you can't fill with unapproved methods of payments for discount use). The discount isn't much, but it's just enough to get you to spend a lot of your money there.

There are times when they give out assignments without fully describing how to do it. I'm 2 years in and still learning about things that I should've known in the beginning.

They tout this work/life balance thing, but there isn't one. The store opens at 8am and closes at 11pm, so it's very possible that your shift will encompass the entire useful portion of the day.

Hours are low, but they're still hiring, of course. The store is short-staffed all the time, until there's a planned visit, in which everyone will have a shift the day before in order to get everything done just to fake it. Visits don't invoke improvement if it appears that your store is always perfect. It's a farce.

I could go on and on, but the moral of the story is that they're no different, no better than walmart. They just pretend to be.

    Advice to Management

Learn to care about the people who do all your grunt work. If they're happy, sales would probably be better because effort would go up.
