I worked at Target full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed my peers and I had a great mentor. Target focuses on personal and professional development.

    Cons

Work/life balance (holidays, nights, weekends, long hours). It is important to enjoy working with customers of all demographics, which I did not. You get a lot of complaints from hourly employees including pay, hours, work relationships, etc. It's exhausting. You are expected to be a general store manager and excel in your individually assigned workcenter. Very difficult to balance the two without letting the other drop. Stressful.

    Advice to Management

Work/life balance! More understanding of the individual culture of each store.

I worked at Target part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pros are that you should be working with nice coworkers, supervisors and managers. They offer flexible hours so you can go to school and work. Also the team and structure of the day is very organized as well as the store.

    Cons

Busy holidays and weekends can be rough if you do not enjoy retail, helping people, and making sales in general. You have to be able to multitask or you will be overwhelmed.
