Pros

The only reason to work at Target is that the benefits are ok.

Cons

Pay is decided by who you know and how much they like you. Even though there is a grid to follow they can move codes around and do what they want to get better pay for the men in a team lead role. You can do the exact same job and have the same title but make up to 4 dollars less an hour. The expectations for a team leaders is out of control, they are expected to do the exact same as executive managers but without the pay or respect. Very unfair practices are being extended at Target. The union would be a great idea.

Advice to Management

Stop sitting in the offices and know that you can get out on the sales floor and help the teams out, stop thinking that you walk on water and that all is beneath you. There is a huge dis-connect with executives, team leaders and the team members.

    Pros

    Other Team Members are awesome.
    It's a job in a tough economy/

    Cons

ETLs barely leave their offices and act as if they are too busy to help you out.
"Can you go to channel 4? I'm real busy right now." Is heard a lot from ETL.
Most TLs are inept at leading a team or doing any actual work.
Most TLs are usually in TSC not on salesfloor.
    Expect More. Get Paid Less.
Lack of communication. Being told to do opposite things by two different managers.
Staffing. Lack of...as well as the constant need to hire more people so everyone ends up getting 20-30 hours a week.
ETLs have a degree, but know nothing about retail management (Target's business college really doesn't teach much apparently). Instead maybe they should hire from within. Perhaps promote TLs that have worked in every different department from electronics to hba to logistics, that actaually have a clue about how the store runs.
Team Morale at the lowest point I have ever seen it.

    Advice to Management

Communicate first and foremost with each other and the TMs. Get everyone all on the same page.
Get out of the office, roll up your sleeves, and help out the TMs every once in a while. We know you have other stuff to do but you need to understand the amount of work that goes into what we do.
    Fix the staffing scheduling issues.
Individual recognition. Not at the huddle as a generic thank you to the whole team, or as a GTC. But by actually stopping to tell someone they did a good job, or that you really appreciate the work they do. Make people feel like you actually care about them and not just the bottom line.
I enjoyed this job, and now hate having to show up for work everyday.

    Cons

Manual Labor, like a construction worker

    Advice to Management

Just need to learn to organize decision making as well as clarifiying with different departments on what needs to be done.
