I have been working at Teach for America full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Teach for America is a developing organization. It has a lot of potential to be life changing:

- If you are with a supportive corps, excellent professional development
- good basic work experience - learning to communicate with everyone
- great insight into education and society which helps professionally and personally

Cons

- financially strenuous depending on where you are
- overworked
- not worth the time or money spent if this is not a career or field you want to pursue

Advice to Management

I think the training can be better - TFA should also front load what the real experience will be like. You come in with the impression that you will change lives and everyday is a rough day. It is rewarding but the wrong things are emphasized. Be sure to be honest with corps members.

I have been working at Teach for America full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

flexibility in virtual work experiences, network, brand, people, amazing talent, strong values, passionate people, everyone works hard

    Cons

virtual teams are common and may lead to not physically working with people in the same place frequently, make sure you understand the role and whether you work better in a virtual or in person setting

    Advice to Management

Only reason I did not give it a full five was the training compared to other companies I have been at previously was not as robust. They put you in stretch roles and the caliber of talent is excellent, but the on-boarding training was not as robust. Possibly because I am comparing the non-profit versus the for profit on-boarding.
