Doesn't Recommend
No opinion of CEO

Pros

- Good compensation in light of current job market
- Nice offices for investment division
- Some competent people if you choose carefully
- Positive press means reputation is useful when seeking other jobs

Cons

- Senior management team is below average technical and management skills
-- CIO fired from last job (Bridgewater) afer 6 months
-- CIO's direct reports at current and previous employeers very critical of his management style and technical abilities
-- CIO had one of the firm's worst performance reviews (public record).
-- Staff required to "babysit" CIO's son during his "intership" at TRS.
- Promotions based on political skills and willness to "look the other way."
- High turn-over of qualified / marketable staff
-- Deputy CIO (Founded outsourced investment management firm)
-- Director of Alternative Assets (Left to run a university endowment)
-- Director of Externally-Managed Public Investments (Now deputy CIO at another firm)
-- Director of Internally-Managed Public Investments (Now CIO at another firm)
- Political pressure to do deals with friends of CIO and Board of Trustees.
- Anyone looking for a job here should ask about the organizational consultant that worked with TRS

Advice to Management

- Senior management should "Man up" and support staff's recommendations
- Senior management should get work on understanding their limitations and delegating decisions to staff.
