I worked at TeleTech full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Flexible schedule (to an extent)
Guaranteed 40 hrs a week (if you can stand being there)
Nice, renovated interior created a refreshing environment

Cons

Trainers gave false impression of what it's like working there and being on the phones.
Common mishaps with scheduling and receiving bonus or referral pay.
Very little incentive.
Co workers act like high school children.
Too many people in one area; sickness spreads quickly during the winter.
Most of the Team Leads are very unprofessional.
Pay was awful for what an agent has to deal with for a minimum of 8 hours a day.
Computer system issues on a weekly basis.
Not enough training.
Break times and bathroom times were heavily monitored by a department of rude people. Because of the large amount of people that abused break/bathroom time, honest employees had to suffer from humiliation on a daily basis.

Advice to Management

Give agents more incentive to work hard and show up to work every day.
Eliminate OSC department. They are degrading and pompous. No one likes to hear their name called out over 50 walkie talkies for going over 2 minutes on their break. Instead, try implementing a clock in/out station at agents' desks so that they don't go over on breaks.
Consider revamping the training program so that agents are effectively educated on the client's policies and procedures. Many agents were taught conflicting information which hurts the customer satisfaction rates.
Consider increasing the pay because $9.25/hr is horrible.

I have been working at TeleTech full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good wages. good sick policy, and even paid days off. raises if you have perfect attendance, good stats, and even bonus's if you are in the top %. also lots of opportunities for overtime. Supposedly opportunities to move around and out of the country. lots of training time. small "teams" of up to 30 people, led by 1 main manager. they have people wandering around to answer questions, but sometimes it does take a while to get your question answered. job sometimes offers health screenings, blood donation time. and sometimes has resteraunts come in and cater(you still have to buy the food). "parties" for good job.

    Cons

Not always willing to work with your schedule.there are stats such as call time, transfer rate, money refund rate, and selling rate that after a few months on the job you really have to adhere to strongly. men with deeper voices do better on the phones, as their voices customers are less likely to argue with. girls(like myself) with higher pitch voices sound unsure, and customers question you more, raising bad stats. things are A:WAYS changing. Lots of yelling customers.
you have to be REALLY good to move up.

    Advice to Management

    you guys are doing good.

"Mediocre management politicians. Lot to improve in cultural diversity and fair opportunity aspects"

I worked at TeleTech full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Standards and expectations are mediocre (except for in pleasing the bosses). This makes life easy if you treat it just as time spent for a paycheck.

If you are good at corporate politics with minimal ethics, you can thrive here and make a decent living.

Not much competition in quality of work or innovation (those are not the criteria in going up the ladder anyways)

    Cons

Unpredictable lay off hurricanes many times a year (has been happening more often in the last 2 years) whenever the executive management fails to further impress the Wallstreet.

Current IT leadership is letting the business down. They are mostly a combination of a few bureaucratic politicians survived in the company for a number of years AND a new flock of cost cutters (read lay offers) recently got hired who approaches everything with a shotgun because they do not have a clue on how to analyze the challenges and efficiently solve and innovate.

No pay hikes or bonuses to the employees doing the heavy lifting - norm is to let them leave and hire new employees for higher pay.
Promotions are mostly based on the 'likability to mid and senior level management' criteria - hard for a diverse cultural background to fit the bill (given the demographics of the current senior and mid level management).

    Advice to Management

TeleTech's IT need more attention from the executive management and budgets to go with that - but not with the current IT leadership and their clueless plans (they dont have enough IT or management experience or knowledge to run a strategic IT to support business and innovate to give business an edge).
Cost-cutters are good short term scavengers, but not good long term strategic managers. They have managed to bring down employee morale to all-time lows. If this is not translating to the health of the business and the value of the company, then that has to be a miracle that works against the lows of nature.
